At three years old, I sat on Wulki for the first time. What began back then lives on intensely today.

WHO IS BEHIND HESTAKOFI?
I am Tim Reinert. An animal naturopath since 2012, with a mobile practice in and around Hamburg. An Icelandic horse breeder. And someone who has lived, worked, and thought with these horses for more than 50 years. Hestakofi is not a corporation. It is a name that has always belonged to my family.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
My grandparents ran one of Germany's first Icelandic horse farms near the Deister mountains. It was called Hestakofi, was located in Feggendorf, and was my second home. At the age of three, I sat for the first time on Wulki, an Icelandic mare who had arrived by ship from Iceland and lived to be about 38 years old. I rode her through the forests of the Deister, mostly side by side with my grandfather on Sleppi. With Wulki, everything was possible. With her, everything felt right.
Since then, Icelandic horses have never let me go. Twenty years ago, I finally fulfilled my dream of owning and breeding them again. The name already existed. Hestakofi was brought back to life.
FYLKIR
Our first own horse was Fylkir. A black gelding, fresh from Iceland, 1.50 meters at the withers, a tower of strength. Calm, deeply relaxed, beautiful. For five years, he was healthy. And then, from one summer to the next, he was no longer. Summer eczema appeared overnight and it hit hard. I tried everything the market had to offer. Nothing really helped. So, I started developing my own solutions.
At that time, I was completing my training as an animal naturopath at the ATM. Skin, allergies, and immune responses in horses became my specialty, not just out of academic interest, but out of pure necessity. My wife's Thermomix was soon repurposed. The first lotions were created in our kitchen at the vacation home. Many formulas. Many failures. And then, eventually, a care lotion with CBD oil that really helped. I saw it in Fylkir. I saw how he became calmer. How the wounds decreased. How he was himself again.
Last autumn, we had to let Fylkir go. Anyone who saw him in his final years would never have thought that he was once almost entirely covered in wounds. He was better managed than ever before. Last summer, he did not even have a bloody belly seam. That proved more to me than anything else.
WHAT BECAME OF IT
Every product that exists at Hestakofi today bears Fylkir’s mark. We do not come from a marketing background. We come from the daily interaction with horses and the desire to truly help them. Combined with more than a decade of practical knowledge as an animal naturopath, products have been created that blend phytotherapy with the knowledge of modern natural cosmetics. Every formula is thought out in detail because we put the needs of the horse's skin at the center.
An allergy is not curable. But it is manageable. Fylkir proved that to me.
THE HOLISTIC CARE CONCEPT
Based on this conviction, I developed the Holistic Care Concept. It explains step-by-step how to truly support a horse with summer eczema—holistically, naturally, and with knowledge gained from practice.
